We are very proud of our ex PeerCorps volunteers who have gone on to bigger and brighter futures. Every week we will feature one of the volunteers with an updated picture and what they’re doing today. We encourage former PeerCorps volunteers to write us about what they’re doing now.

The second person have chosen to highlight this week is:

Tuyen Nguyen - April 25, 2007

Tuyen Nguyen

I am currently living in Michigan and finishing up my first year of Law school at Thomas Cooley Law School. For the summer of 2007 I will be working at a non profit: Legal Assistance Corporation of Central MA, as a paralegal and Vietnamese Outreach worker.

As a PeerCorps member, I remember walking in the Leominster parade helping to carry the TeenAIDS banner when Dr. John was on his global walk. I also remember being at the Fitchburg Library trying to practice some improv and I have to say it was very awkward and at the time, I was kind of shy.

From TeenAIDS, I certainly tried to minimize behavior that would expose myself to the risk of contracting AIDS. Not only that but I also learned that Dr. John is such a passionate man - passionate about his quest and mission to educate youths. I try to impose that into my own convictions and goals.

I have told friends and students about Dr. John and TeenAIDS and I continue to. I often find myself dispelling myths that people tend to associate with AIDS. I enjoyed the experience and the knowledge.

HI Dr. John,
I wish you safe and good travels to your next few destinations of the Caribbean and South America. My father has always said that you are a gift, because not everyone can do what you are doing to be able to sacrifice and dedicate your life to such a great passion. I continue to commend you on your invaluable service to the world.

I got your email address from Hung at his sister's wedding. I have also passed it on to Quang so that he can say Hi because he mentions you alot and he's always wondering where your travels have brought you. I have been keeping very busy this school year due to it being my last year here at college and my preparation for law school. I just cannot believe how time does fly, I can't believe I am now a senior in college when it doesn't feel too long ago that I met you during my freshmen year of High school. I would love to hear from you!! Please if there's anything that I or Quang can do to help you do not hesitate to let us know. It would be our pleasure to help you in any way. I hope to see you when you return. Tuyen"
