Clement Achim
Gyimah is from the Eastern Region of Ghana from a village called
Okyinso near Kade. Clement is a natural born leader. At the age of
eight he became a Sunday school teacher. He attended Awisa
Presbyterian Boy's Boarding School, Oda Secondary School, Kumasi
Workers College and the Institute of Management Studies for a
three-year postgraduate Diploma in Marketing. At the Institute,
Clement was elected president of the Student Representative Council,
vice president of the Ghana Union of Professional Students (GUPS) and
a central committee member of the National Union of Ghana Students
(NUGS). Between1999-2000, he completed his national service in Bechem
Government Hospital in the Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana as assistant
administrator. In 2002, he was appointed the Country Coordinator for
the Global Youth Action Network. He also served as the youth focal
person for the UN Volunteers Ghana program. After attending the
Pan-African Youth Leadership Summit in Senegal as Ghana's young male
delegate, Clement helped establish a National MDGs Youth Network for
Ghana. He partnered with organizations including the Youth Employment
Summit, Peacechild, Takingitglobal, Right to Play, Play Soccer, and
the National Youth Council, among others. He represented Ghana in the
second Pan-African Youth Leadership Summit in Ifrane, Morrocco and the
UN Global Youth Leadership Summit in New York, United States.
I became part of the TeenAIDS family in 2002,when Dr. John was on his
Global AIDS education tour among young people in Ghana. I was his tour
organizer. I was able to arrange for him to meet PPAG (Young &
Wise group), Goodies Foundation with young Hiplife Stars (Sidney&
VIP), Ghana AIDS Commission's Director-General, United Nations
Volunteers Programme Officer and a visit to four Junior Secondary
Schools in Haatso in Accra. When I received invitation from the United
Nations to attend the UN Global Youth Leadership Summit from 28th
October - 2nd November 2006 in New York, I informed Dr. John and was
told what is going to happen in the year's world AIDS day. I decided
to be with Dr. John for 10 days to help in getting more young people
to signup for the event in Africa. He was selected in 2004 to attend
Pentecost University College as a ministerial student. He is currently
in charge of The Church of Pentecost Bole District in the northern
region of the Ghana. Long live TeenAIDS.
