1980 General Nursing Graduation concluded with 15 points out 20

* Professional Experience
September 1980 - After Nursing school graduation started working as a nurse at Hospital de Santa Maria (Lisboa) which did for almost 3 and a half years, until February 1984.
January 1985 - started as a Medical Resident at Hospitais Civis de Lisboa and concluded this residency in September 1986 with the classification of "Apt to Clinical practice"
October 1986 - applied to Internal Medicine Residency and started at Hospital de Santa Marta Lisboa in January 1987 along with private practice.
August 1988 - Started as a School Heath doctor, being responsible to co-ordinate a team composed by a nurse, a psychologist and a social assistant whose work was directed to the school children from kindergarten to high school.
May 1993 - Due to the knowledge of her School Heath practice, was invited to be responsible for this area at a Private Kindergarten and accepted which leaded to her resign from private practice as General Physician.
July 1994 - Started her first Pharmaceutical Industry job at Schering Plough as CRA, reporting to the Medical Director.
June 1996 - Medical Affairs Manager at Schering Plough reporting to the Business Unit Director and dealing with all the Institutional products grouped by the Following areas:
Hepatology, Oncology, Haematology, Anti-infective and Multiple Sclerosis
March 1998 - Started at Roche as Medical Director of the Hospital Unit reporting to the Business Unit Director.
Within this Unit there were four major therapeutic areas - Transplant, Oncology, Haematology, Hospital (Anti-infective and Anaesthesia) and Virology (including AIDS and Hepatology)
February 2000 - She initiated functions as Medical Director of Serono, position that keeps.
Serono is a leading Biotechnology Company having 4 main therapeutic areas: Central Nervous System, Reproductive Health, Metabolic Endocrinology and the New Therapeutic Area holding products under clinical investigation and intended for Gastrenterology, Reumatology and Dermatology.
September 2000 - Serono Portugal was then integrated in a region composed by Greece, Portugal and Spain and beyond her local function became also the Regional Medical Director for the metabolic Endocrinology therapeutic Area.
June 2002 - A new reorganization occurred at Serono as Portugal and Spain are now together composing the Iberian Region. Along with this change, a Regional Medical Department was created, having a Regional Director to who report both the Spanish and the Portuguese Medical Directors.
Her current Serono job is then Local Medical Director and Regional Medical Director for the Neurology Therapeutic Area.
During all her jobs at pharmaceutical Industry, the kindergarten practice was previously agreed and allowed consisting on a half working day per week with all flexibility in order to not interfere with the Company activities.
* Other Interests:
October 2001 - Founding partner of the Associação Portuguesa de Saúde Escolar e Universitária (Portuguese Association for School and University Health) a Civil Society entity, without lucrative ends, that has the goal to contribute for the promotion of the health of the Portuguese school population. She is, since the date of the foundation, Vice-president of this Association.
October 2002 - Initiated the frequency of the first HIV/SIDA Course after a curricular selection process for the available 20 vacant.
